The use of drones as surveillance and reconnaissance tools is already widespread among armies around the world. Many drones, even some small models, have thermal vision, meaning they can detect enemies by the body heat they give off. For many soldiers, these drones can become a real nightmare.

A few days ago, a retired US Army soldier posted an interesting video on the Garand Thumb channel. This veteran served in the Army as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) specialist. In this video, he shows the techniques used to avoid detection by drones, including those with thermal vision, but also those capable of detecting radio and mobile phone signals:

You can see here some screenshots from this video, which has a very cinematic beginning. As you can see, the techniques mentioned in the video include traditional visual camouflage, including faces and other body parts being exposed. The most interesting part is the one that shows how to use nature to be invisible to thermal drones. By the way, if anyone thought of the movie "Predator" (1987) and the use of mud, the author of the video advises against it, because it does not take long to heat up due to body heat.
