Ignores a security problem and threatens those who protest

Islamism and the selective heavy-handedness of the left-wing: the case of Keir Starmer

A few days ago, a young man of African origin murdered three girls and attempted to murder eight other children and two adults in Southport.

The Southport murders and their precedents

These crimes have been the straw that broke the camel's back for many Britons, who have for decades stoically endured a wide wave of crimes linked to mass immigration, especially of Islamic origin, without protest for fear of being labelled as "racist" and "xenophobic". Let us remember that ten years ago, a scandal broke out when it was discovered that more than 1,500 girls were sexually abused over 16 years in Rotherham, in the north of England, without the authorities doing anything, for fear of being labelled racist, since the aggressors were Muslim immigrants.

That scandal was not an isolated case. Similar incidents were uncovered in Oxford in 2013 and in Rochdale in 2016, also perpetrated by Muslim rapists. Hundreds of girls were raped, beaten and sold by Pakistani gangs in Telford, with police doing nothing. Some of the girls were even murdered. These events have been going on for 40 years (since the 1980s) and have been ignored despite warnings from social workers, once again because the authorities were afraid of being labelled racist.

They try to extinguish a social outbreak by pointing to the 'far-right'

The Southport murders have sparked a social upheaval in the UK. In some cases, the protests have turned violent. Many politicians and media outlets are pointing the finger at the "far right", but this protest is now going beyond ideologies. Just look at what happened in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, where Catholic republicans and Protestant unionists demonstrated together against mass immigration.

Ultimately, it is a security problem that affects everyone equally, except those who live in well-off neighbourhoods where the effects of mass immigration are not felt. A comfortable situation that coincides with that of many politicians who criticise those who complain about this mass immigration.

Labour's Keir Starmer's selective crackdown

In this regard, the lack of empathy of many politicians and media towards people who suffer from this insecurity is striking, and at the same time their excess of empathy with those who generate these problems. Also striking is the double standard of Islamist and far-left protests, on the one hand, and protests against insecurity.

An example of this selective heavy-handedness is the current British Prime Minister. Labour's Keir Starmer published a soft message on the murders of the three girls in Southport, in which he did not even ask for the full weight of the law to fall on the perpetrator of the crimes. He has, however, threatened those protesting with "the full force of the law", condemning what he called "far-right thuggery".

Curiously, Starmer has not used the term thuggery once against the outbreak of antisemitic incidents in the UK following the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel. Indeed, Starmer has not posted a single message condemning this wave of antisemitism on his Twitter account. This is especially shocking considering that he is married to a Jewish woman.

Starner's astonishing reaction to an act of harassment in her own home

Starmer’s silence is striking given that pro-Palestinian activists attempted to disrupt a Starmer event in Glasgow in December 2023. The harassment did not end there. On 9 April, pro-Palestinian activists protested outside Starmer’s home, an act of harassment that resulted in his wife and son being unable to return from a shopping trip for fear of the harassers.

Three people were arrested, but Starmer did not even tweet a single complaint about it, despite being harassed by his own family. The then prime minister, Rishi Sunak, a Conservative, condemned the harassment, but Starmer did not even tweet a thank you. Starmer's final message that day was to congratulate Muslims on the end of Ramadan.

The Labour Party does not want to upset its Muslim voters

As with that act of bullying, Starmer has not described the frequent demonstrations and riots organised by Islamists in the United Kingdom as “ thuggery”. The reason for this double standard is easy to guess. As with other left-wing parties, the Labour Party is the preferred choice of many Muslims living in that country. Although Starmer’s position on Israel has lost him support among the Muslim community, they prefer the Labour Party to the Conservative Party, whose support for Israel has always been much clearer.

Official speeches and the reality of British streets

One wonders what will happen next in the UK. Will Starmer continue to ignore Islamist thuggery and threaten those who protest against it? Most likely. After all, this is the same position that other European governments have adopted. What politicians like Starmer do not understand is that they are only making the problem worse. Today, xenophobic activists would be irrelevant in the UK if the country did not have a serious problem with Muslim immigration and a lack of integration.

The fact that there are British neighbourhoods ghettoised by Islam and that the police are showing weakness in the face of Islamist protests is something that many British citizens perceive as alarming and outrageous facts, and that perception will not be changed by threats and campaigns of accusations by politicians and the media. When it is your children who are threatened by this reality, official speeches denying the problem matter very little.
