An interesting exploration of the Hilux Aventura in the mountains of Asturias

Two houses swallowed up by nature in the domains of the mythical Asturian busgoso

The Principality of Asturias is a Spanish region known for its rugged mountains and beautiful, green landscapes.

A walk through a spectacular mountain village in Asturias with its last neighbors

Like other mountainous regions in Spain, Asturias is suffering the effects of depopulation in the rural world, a phenomenon that gives rise to abandoned villages and houses that remain silent and surrounded by vegetation in the middle of the lush forests that, according to Asturian mythology, are the domain of the "busgoso" (or busgosu), the lord of the forest, a being shaped like a faun (half man, half goat) who helps those who get lost in the forest and who is severe with those who mistreat nature. Xuacu Amieva dedicated a nice song to him 25 years ago and I have the figure of a busgoso with a joker face looking at me from the bookshelf right now.

A few days ago, the always interesting channel Hilux Aventura published a video showing two abandoned houses that have been surrounded by the forest in the mountains of Asturias. One of them is reached by a long road that the author of the video traveled in an all-terrain vehicle, having to go all the way in reverse to be able to get out of there (the video is in Spanish, you can activate automatic English subtitles in the bottom bar of the player):

You can see some screenshots from this video here. Here we see the first of the houses. In the video you can see the leafy path that leads to it, it is one of those mountain paths that let your imagination run wild.

Here we see the entrance to the second house, almost completely engulfed by vegetation.

The main building of this house, with a Pasquali tiller still in its shed and in very good condition, by the way. You can see it in more detail in the video.

The classic Asturian square-shaped hórreo (a type of granary), near this second house. The staircase has collapsed, so it is now inaccessible.
