The terrorist attack was directed against the Ukrainian town of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region today. The Kyiv Independent reports that Russia fired a Kh-38 air-to-surface missile at the Ekomarket supermarket. The attack occurred this morning, when many people were shopping. In this attack, the Russians have killed 14 civilians and injured 43.

As a result of the attack, the supermarket was burned and destroyed. It is a civilian target with no military value, so this attack is another clear example of a Russian war crime, according to the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

The Kh-38 is a missile launched from aircraft such as the Sukhoi Su-34. It has satellite-guided, infrared-guided and laser-guided versions. So it can be deduced that the pilot who launched it knew well that he was attacking a civilian target.

In addition to the supermarket attack, four houses, nine shops, a car wash and 12 cars were also hit by the Russian strike. The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, said this morning: "The attack on the supermarket in Kostiantynivka is another example of Russian terrorism. All they can do is attack civilians."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the attack, saying: "Russia will be held accountable for this terror, and we will do our best to ensure that the world continues to stand with Ukraine in supporting our defense and saving the lives of our people."

Since the beginning of this invasion, Russia has been launching indiscriminate attacks against civilian targets, attacking residential buildings, supermarkets, schools, religious centers, hospitals, kindergartens and other targets without any military value. Attacking these targets is a war crime.

Of course, once again, I strongly condemn this attack and convey my full support to the people of Ukraine. This war was started by Russia in a criminal attempt to militarily occupy a free and independent country, as a result of Vladimir Putin's imperialist folly. Russia must be defeated and the West must help Ukraine defend itself. Only then can peace be restored in that part of Europe.
