Putin and his allies continue to be supporters of Nicolás Maduro

The Venezuelan dictatorship and its allies, further proof that the Cold War continues

Lately I have been reading some people saying that the Cold War is over and that there is no longer a right and a left.

Revolt against dictatorship in Venezuela: several statues of Hugo Chávez torn down
The Spanish left and its support for Maduro: it wants the same thing in Spain as in Venezuela

According to this way of thinking, the old rivalry between democracy and communism has given way to a new rivalry between globalism and anti-globalism. Certainly, the old blocks that existed in the Cold War have undergone changes, and the democratic block has been infiltrated by ideological approaches that are corrosive to the West, something that is not new: let us remember that in democratic countries of the Western bloc there were socialist governments before 1989 in countries such as Germany, France, Spain and Portugal.

The list of allies of Venezuela's socialist dictatorship is evidence that the Cold War continues. Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was one of those who recognized dictator Maduro, who has been a traditional ally of Russia. In line with Moscow once again, China's communist dictatorship has also approved of electoral fraud in Venezuela. To complete the geostrategic picture of Maduro's main allies, the Islamist dictatorship of Iran, an ally of Russia, has also recognized the Venezuelan dictator as the winner in a presidential election marked by massive fraud.

Other Russian allies have also recognized Maduro: Cuba's communist dictatorship, Nicaragua's socialist dictatorship, North Korea's communist dictatorship, Syria's socialist dictatorship, Lukashenko's dictatorship in Belarus, Serbia's government (another traditional ally of Moscow) and Qatar (Iran's ally). In Hispanic America, Maduro has also received support from the far-left government of Honduras, which is another Russian ally.

Let us remember, moreover, that the Venezuelan socialist dictatorship has the support of the Western far-left, the same far-left that brings together the most pro-Russian parties in the European Union. In 2020, two years before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I already warned here about Moscow's support for the Western far left in order to destabilize and weaken NATO countries.

Of course, Western democracies have many flaws and there are many governments in them that are betting on an ideological line that is purely self-destructive for the West, but the allies of the socialist dictatorship in Venezuela are a club of the worst tyrants in the world. Even with all the alarming things that are happening in many Western countries, the situation in them is incomparable with the suffocation of freedoms that exists in the dictatorships that support Maduro and in Venezuela itself. It is a fact that we should never forget, unless some people believe that dictatorships like China, Iran, Russia or North Korea represent the panacea of "anti-globalism" and that the bad guy in this movie is the "globalist" West.
