The violent Chavist repression has further enraged the Venezuelan people

Revolt against dictatorship in Venezuela: several statues of Hugo Chávez torn down

The socialist dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro has decided to resort to violence to hold on to power after its latest electoral fraud.

What we democrats do in the world and what communists like Yolanda Díaz do

A few hours ago, paramilitaries in the service of the dictatorship fired on protesters demanding freedom in Caracas, using handguns. The number of victims is unknown at the moment. You can see the video of the shooting here, shared by @TuiteroMartin:

This violent repression has only served to further enrage millions of Venezuelans, who have organised demonstrations in dozens of cities across the country. In Venezuela, events have begun to be seen that are reminiscent of the fall of communism in Eastern Europe: the toppling of statues of dictators. Here in Europe, statues of Lenin, the mass murderer and first communist dictator, have been toppled, while in Venezuela, statues of Hugo Chavez, the founder of this socialist dictatorship, are being toppled.

The first statue of Chavez was torn down in the city of Coro, in the state of Falcón, on the northwest coast of Venezuela. Here we can see the video of the toppling, shared by the Venezuelan writer Emmanuel Rincón:

The second statue of Chavez has been torn down in the city of Calabozo, in the state of Guárico, in the center of the country. @FedericoBlackB has shared the video of the toppling on Twitter:

The third statue has been toppled in La Guaira, in the state of the same name, 30 km north of Caracas. The statue was on Carlos Soublette Avenue. Efecto Cocuyo has published this video of the toppling:

Here we can see the fourth statue toppled, in the city of Mariara, in the state of Carabobo, on the north coast. Here we can see the video of the toppling broadcast by Voluntad Popular:

Following the toppling of the Chavez statue in Mariara, motorcyclists dragged the statue's head through the city, as seen in this video shared by @Rous1113:

Furthermore, protesters calling for freedom have begun to pursue Chavista motorcycle gangs, as we can see in this video posted by Rodrigo Figueredo and recorded in Caracas near the Humboldt Hotel:
