That ship, a civil ship that is a reproduction of a historical frigate from the 18th century, intended to arrive at the Spanish port of Vigo this Wednesday, July 24, sailing under the flag of the Cook Islands, a flag that AGA Ucraína described it as "fraudulent." A few days ago, the French Navy prevented the arrival of that Russian frigate to the port of Brest, in Brittany, in application of European sanctions on this type of vessels, which include those that have recently changed flag. AGA Ucraína sent a letter to the Maritime Captaincy of Vigo denouncing the intentions of the Russian ship and asking that it be prohibited from accessing this Spanish port.

This Thursday, la Russian state agency RIA Novosti has reported that Spanish ports have also vetoed that ship. The Kremlin-dependent agency refers to the words of the ship's own captain, Vladimir Martus, in which he states the following: "The Spanish ports do not let us enter. We received information that the Ministry "has sent a notice to all Spanish ports not to allow the entry of the Shtandart into the ports." The Russian agency points out that now the frigate "cannot leave the waters of the European Union due to lack of fuel."

Yesterday, the Russian media RBC.ru stated that this frigate is already in Spanish territorial waters, but without giving more details about its location. This medium cites the information published by Counting Stars about the complaint by AGA Ucraína against that ship. In fact, no other Spanish website has published anything about it. RBC.ru also states that the captain of the Russian frigate is considering suing Spain and France for banning his ship from their ports, but does not explain what he would claim in this regard, since this ban is made in application of a European sanction for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, being an absolutely legal measure.

The Russian frigate intended to participate in the "Iacobus Maris" festival in Vigo. However, the programming published by this festival this Monday afternoon did not include any reference to the Russian ship. The veto of the Russian frigate in Spanish ports has also been published by the Russian edition of the American state media Radio Free Europe.
