It falsely accuses Israel of 'genocide' but avoids doing the same with Russia

The anti-Semitic double standard of the Pedro Sánchez government with Israel and Russia

Some believe that anti-Setimism is merely the act of expressing hatred of Jews, but that hatred manifests itself in a variety of ways.

Who has committed crimes of genocide, Israel or Hamas? What the facts indicate
The genocides that the left-wing does not protest while slandering Israel

Anti-Semitism is also applying a double standard to Israel and other countries

The most widespread definition of anti-Semitism in the West is the one subscribed to by the countries of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), which is made up of 35 countries, including Spain and Israel. It should be noted that this institution does not consider mere criticism of Israel to be anti-Semitism, as is logical. However, The IHRA definition considers antisemitism to be the following, among other things: "Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation."

The Sánchez government assumed that definition of antisemitism in 2020

The IHRA was founded in 1998. Spain joined this Alliance in January 2008, under the socialist government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero. However, Spain did not subscribe to the IHRA definition of antisemitism until July 2020, under the government of Pedro Sánchez. This accession was celebrated by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE), which this week he accused Sánchez's communist vice president, Yolanda Díaz, of anti-Semitism, for using the same slogan "from the river to the sea" used by Hamas terrorists.

Margarita Robles sees a 'genocide' in Gaza but not in Ukraine

Taking into account the IHRA definition, Pedro Sánchez's government is committing clear acts of anti-Semitism by accusing Israel of "genocide" and by not making that accusation against other countries. Until now, the members of the Spanish government who supported this false accusation against the Jewish State have been those of its communist faction. Yesterday, the socialist Margarita Robles joined this slanderous accusation against Israel, being the first member of the PSOE within the government to join this hoax.

Until now, Margarita Robles has not once accused Russia of committing genocide in Ukraine, nor have the communist ministers of the government who have leveled that accusation against Israel. Last year, on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian prosecutor Yuriy Belousov, head of the War Crimes department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, noted that Russia had already killed 100,000 civilians Ukrainians. This is a figure issued by the Prosecutor's Office of a democratic country invaded by Russia. However, that figure has been much less disseminated than the false figures published by Hamas about Gaza. Some figures shared, among others, by Pedro Sánchez.

The double standard of the Sánchez government with Israel and Russia

Until now, Sánchez only spoke of a possible "genocide" in Ukraine when referring to the Bucha massacre, where Russian troops murdered hundreds of unarmed and bound Ukrainian civilians in cold blood. Neither Sánchez nor any of his ministers have accused Russia of "genocide" for the invasion of Ukraine as a whole, which a year ago had already reached that terrible figure of 100,000 deaths, a figure that the members from the Sánchez government have not been broadcast even once, perhaps because Israel is not involved in that war.

Sánchez's government does not even call Putin's regime 'terrorist'

In November 2022, el Ukrainian president asked Sánchez to declare Russia a "terrorist", but the Spanish socialist leader has not listened to him. To give us an idea, in December 2022 Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the Czech Republic, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the European Parliament had already declared Russia a "terrorist". In addition, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland had already accused Russia of "genocide".

Unlike those countries, the Spanish government and the leftist parliamentary majority in Congress have so far not subscribed to either of these two accusations. However, the Spanish left does not stop launching false accusations of genocide and terrorism against Israel, lies that have also been launched by Sánchez's own government. Thus, the Spanish government is anti-Semitic according to the definition that it itself subscribed to, since it not only applies a double standard when asking Israel for behavior not expected or required of any other democratic country, but also In addition, it launches very serious accusations against a democratic country like Israel that it does not launch against a dictatorship like Russia.

Israel is an attacked country and Russia is an aggressor country

Let us keep in mind that Russia has been perpetrating massacres of unarmed and bound civilians and indiscriminately attacking the civilian population, without calling before attacking to avoid civilian casualties or facilitating evacuations from the attacked areas, the opposite of what Israel does in Gaza. If Israel committed even a tenth of the atrocities that Russia commits in Ukraine, its embassies would be raided and burned down around the world. And this despite a fundamental difference: Israel is an attacked country that is carrying out a defensive operation against the Hamas terrorists, who were the ones who started that war in the Middle East, while Russia is an aggressor country: it was its invasion that started the war in Ukraine.

The only EU government to have leveled genocide accusations against Israel

Currently, Sanchez's government is the only government in the European Union that has leveled accusations of "genocide" at Israel, an accusation in which that government aligns itself with allies of Hamas such as Iran, Turkey, Venezuela and South Africa. To this we must add Hamas's praise for the government of Sánchez, which complete the shameful image of Spain that socialists and communists are giving.

Coincidentally, Spain is buying more Russian gas than ever. That could explain the double standard of the Sánchez government: while it slanders Israel, it avoids accusing Russia of terrorism or genocide because it buys gas from it. One more example of the low foreign policy of the Spanish government, which It is the only EU government with communist ministers, an ideology in which Putin's useful fools abound. Let us remember that two years ago, The current communist minister Sira Rego was among the few deputies (39 out of 676) who did not want to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the European Parliament.
